Hirundo Projects

Hirundo presents two wind power projects poised to meet 25% of the current domestic electricity demand in Lesotho.

Mohale’s Hoek Wind Farm

Hirundo Lesotho is developing a wind farm comprising 12 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 3 to 6MW. The wind farm will be located on a mountain ridge to the east of Mohale's Hoek. Through this endeavor, Hirundo Lesotho aims to make a substantial impact on Lesotho's energy landscape by generating around 15% of the nation's domestic electricity consumption or around 140GWh/year.

Masite Nek Wind Farm

Close to Masite Nek (Ha ‘Majane), Hirundo Lesotho is developing another project set to feature eight wind turbines with the same capacity range of 3 to 6MW each. This wind farm project will generate approximately 10% of the country's domestic electricity consumption or around 85GWh/year.

Hirundo is dedicated to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Lesotho by promoting access to clean energy, fostering climate action, and ensuring the right to education for all. Our efforts are aligned with the following SDGs:
